The UIM mourns the passing away of FB Design Founder and Powerboating Legend Fabio Buzzi
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Italian Engineer Fabio Buzzi, 76, who passed away on Tuesday evening, 17th Sept., while trying to establish a new Record for the Route Monte Carlo to Venice.
Fabio Buzzi started his powerboating racing career in 1960 at the age of 17 and starting from that moment he achieved countless successes through his life.
In 1971 he founded FB Design, to build leisure, military and racing boats. The high level of competences of this great engineer are reflected in the successes that he achieved as designer, FB Design boats won 52 World Offshore Championships, 22 European Offshore Championships, 27 Italian Offshore Championships and 40 World Speed Records were achieved with his designed boats.
The UIM honors the memory of this extraordinary Powerboating legend as well as the memory of the other victims on board with Fabio Buzzi, Luca Nicolini (ITA) and Erik Hoorn (NL). We express the deepest condolences to their family and to their close friends.
