The checkered flag has been waived for the final time at the end of the Dubai Grand Prix which determined the winners of the 2021 UIM XCAT World Championship. The curtain comes down for the 2021 UIM Powerboating season after five very exciting back-to-back races. Dubai Police teammates Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi got extra satisfaction by securing the UIM XCAT World Championship in their home waters.

It was not an easy success since the two boats from Team Abu Dhabi gave it a good fight. By winning the season’s final race ahead of Dubai Police, Abu Dhabi 5's Rashed Al Tayer and Majed Al Mansoori finished second overall, 13 points behind Dubai Police. The Abu Dhabi 4 team of Shaun Torrente and Faleh Al Mansoori finished third, with Six teammates Tomaso Polli and Matteo Nicolini finishing fourth, and the Victory Team's Erik Stark and Mohamed Alyammahi on fifth position.

“Dubai has been a fantastic host,” said UIM President Raffaele Chiulli. “The parade with all the racing boats along the Dubai Water Canal, just in front of the Burj Khalifa, was stunning as it was passing by the “Tolerance Bridge,” named in honor of the International Day of Tolerance and extraordinary symbol of peace, harmony and coexistence between 200 different cultures”.

“Sport is a universal language; it can bring people together, no matter what their origin, background, religious beliefs, gender or ability” added Chiulli. “I’m also impressed by the organization of this exciting UIM XCAT World Championship, despite the pandemic; I would like to congratulate the XCAT Team for the passion, enthusiasm and the resilience they showed to run such a great festival of sport.”

“What we’ve seen is the beginning of a new era of powerboating,” concluded Chiulli. “We’ve already shared ideas about how to make the format even more appealing and interesting for the teams and for the host cities and countries.”
