UIM E1 Series getting closer to take off

The Yacht Club of Monaco was once again center stage for showcasing the E1 Racebird prototype after it has successfully completed a first series of tests on water in Italy. The event was attended by HSH Prince Albert, President of the Yacht Club de Monaco and UIM Honorary President, E1 President Alejandro Agag and CEO Rodi Basso, as well as UIM President Raffaele Chiulli.

The UIM E1 Series will be the first “full electric” powerboating championship, and UIM President Chiulli expressed his satisfaction for being part of this groundbreaking project: “For the Monaco based international powerboat federation, which celebrates its 100 Years anniversary in 2022, this is the beginning of a new era. I would like to thank Alejandro Agag and Rodi Basso for making our common vision a reality.”

Raffaele Chiulli also praised the crucial role of the Principality: “Under the leadership of HSH Prince Albert, Monaco is leading by example to preserve our planet and our oceans and to promote sustainable mobility. I am proud that the UIM with the new UIM E1 Series will actively contribute to these efforts.”

E1 Series President Alejandro Agag underlined the importance of the partnership with the UIM and the pioneering role of the Principality and the Yacht Club de Monaco in the realization of a concept that will revolutionize the powerboating sport and the mobility on water in general.

The UIM E1 World Championship is scheduled to start early 2023 and will see up to 12 teams and 24 pilots racing on the water in iconic cities around the world.
