A record number of participants between 6 and 18 years have been competing in 6 boat classes in the 2022 UIM Formula Future World and Continental Championships, held in Brandenburg, Germany. UIM President Raffaele Chiulli shared the passion of the enthusiastic young drivers who were competing on the water. The drivers representing the hosting nation were particularly performant and took the largest number of medals, while the drivers from the Czech Republic and Lithuania followed on second and third position in the Team ranking table.
German Motorboat Federation President Frank Dettmering could be proud of the results obtained by the athletes competing under the German flag. UIM President Raffaele Chiulli was impressed by the excellent organization of the Championships and underlined that he was extremely happy to witness this Event in Brandenburg: “I am proud of this new generation of drivers and I look forward to meeting them again in other boat classes further ahead. Their enthusiasm is a guarantee for the future of our sport.” The UIM President also underlined that “…it is important for us to develop environmental awareness and to educate young powerboaters comprehensively. The UIM Formula Future is designed to encourage the new generations to compete on the water and to demonstrate their skills on water safely and well aware of environmental responsibility. It is rewarding to see teams of girls and boys from many UIM National Authorities coming together also to promote cultural exchange between different nations and I am delighted to see our young competitors leaving Brandenburg with a smile!”
The Formula Future racing format is aligned with the UIM Youth Development Program "PROPSTARS". Professional training for future generations of powerboat racing competitors and officials is one of the highest priorities of the UIM. President Chiulli underlined that “…our goal is to continue to establish a world-wide network of training centers, to ensure the success and growth of our sport. The UIM Formula Future and our training programs teach competitors and officials of all ages the secrets of safe and environmentally responsible boat racing. The UIM Formula Future is the first step towards a bright powerboating future !”
