Shaping UIM’s future: the roadmap to success!

UIM  Goal & Vision Workshop participants

All roads lead to Rome!  As the UIM Council gathered in Rome for the two-day goal & vision workshop, there was a sense of excitement in the air. This was a crucial moment for the organization, as the objective of the workshop was to develop a strategic roadmap for the UIM's growth and development. The UIM Council was determined to identify the organization's strengths , weaknesses and opportunities and come up with actionable plans to achieve their vision.

The workshop kicked off with a presentation by the UIM President, Dr. Raffaele Chiulli, who outlined the key topics and objectives of the workshop. He underscored the need to create a sustainable future for powerboating and emphasized the importance of youth development, safety, and innovation in driving the sport forward.

The Council then dove into the meat of the workshop, discussing a range of topics critical to the UIM's future. One of the most significant aspects of the event was the focus on sustainability and environmental awareness. Ing. Marco Casiraghi and Professor Carlos Duarte gave inspiring speeches on the role of powerboating in promoting sustainability and the need to protect and restore nature. Their insights were instrumental in shaping the UIM's commitment to the Sports for Nature Framework developed with key organizations among which the IOC and UNEP (United Nations Environment Program).

The UIM's commitment to sustainability was further reinforced by discussions around the Youth Development Program and the UIM Academy. These initiatives aim to train the next generation of powerboat racers, while also instilling in them a sense of responsibility towards the environment. The council recognized the importance of investing in the future of the sport and ensuring that it remains sustainable and relevant for years to come.

Safety was another top priority for the council, with discussions centered around identifying new ways to improve safety measures. The UIM is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, and the Council was determined to explore new approaches to achieve this goal.

The Council also identified the need to develop new categories and races to attract more fans and generate new sources of revenue. The UIM recognized that innovation and creativity are key to driving the sport forward and expanding its appeal beyond its current fan base.

By the end of the workshop, the UIM council had developed a comprehensive roadmap for the organization's growth and development. The roadmap covered the main aspects discussed during the workshop, including sustainability, youth development, safety, and innovation.
