UIM PRESIDENT CELEBRATES UIM AQUABIKE SUCCESS IN SARDINIA

 

The UIM Aquabike Class pro Circuit World Championship was hosted in Olbia, Sardinia and scored a great success of audience and participation.   Thousands of people attended the races contested by 170 athletes from 30 different countries along the stunning coastal city of Olbia, northeast of Sardinia.

 

 

The 2 days event has also seen the participation of several representatives of international motorsports, institutions and business community onsite who were made acquainted with the secrets of the powerboat sport by UIM President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli and H2O Racing President Mr. Nicolo di San Germano and his Team.  The spectators lived also a unique experience: the Aquabike champions on parade with the flags of their countries.

 

Raffaele Chiulli, UIM President said “That’s powerboating! A unique sport gem that unites the competitive spirit of our champions from all over the world with the charm of the hosting cities”.

 

The UIM President met and had an interesting exchange with Anthony Radetic, the American professional watercraft champion and former U.S. Army Blackhawk Pilot.  Anthony is paraplegic due to a motorcycle accident and has won national and international extreme sports competitions.

 

In speaking about his experience of life, Radetic said, "In competitive sports, there is an immediate recognition with each accomplishment. I think through competition, I was looking for a way to validate my personal struggle with my disability."
