UIM XCAT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – GRAND PRIX OF SICILIA, PALERMO (19-21 July 2024)
Palermo, July 21, 2024 - Palermo debuted as a host city for the XCAT World Championship, electrifying fans at the Foro Italico. Italy's Consulbrokers team initially led the race, but a mechanical issue disrupted their pace. This allowed the Victory team to take the lead, only to be overtaken by Sweden's Swecat, who delivered an extraordinary performance to secure first place. Their victory also propelled them to the top of the overall championship standings. The event concluded with HPI from Italy in second place and the Emirati team Fazza in third. Consulbrokers, despite their setback, made a commendable comeback to finish fifth. The championship continues in Basilicata at the end of September before heading back to Asia.
UIM-ABP AQUABIKE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP IN GYOR, HUNGARY (19-21 July 2024)
The UIM-ABP Aquabike European Championship held in Gyor, Hungary, from July 19-21, 2024, was an exhilarating showcase of top-tier aquabike racing across multiple categories.
Estonia’s Jasmiin Ypraus clinched the Ski Ladies GP1 title after a dramatic final race. Despite a rocky start, Ypraus fought her way back to secure the win, narrowly edging out Norway’s Benedicte Drange. In the Ski GP1 category, France’s Morgan Poret emerged victorious, fending off strong competition from Valentin Dardillat, while in Ski GP2, Dutch racer Daan Hoeke captured a thrilling last-lap victory over Hungary’s Csongor Jászai.
The Runabout categories featured impressive performances as well. Hungary’s György Kasza excelled in both the Runabout GP1 and Runabout Veterans GP1 events. In the Runabout GP4 Junior category, Lithuania’s Grantas Gurksnys dominated, securing the championship with a commanding performance.
The Junior Ski categories were also fiercely contested. Ander-Hubert Lauri triumphed in the Ski Juniors GP3.3, while Marvin Bohuslav took the top spot in Ski Juniors GP3.2. In Ski GP3, Croatia’s Dorijan Jakopanec had already secured the title before the final Moto, but Ander-Hubert Lauri and Maxime Arthebise provided strong performances in the final races. Additionally, in the Runabout GP2 category, Pierre-François Savelli claimed victory in a close contest with Petr Dryjak.
Current World Champion Roberto Mariani won both Moto 1 and Moto 2 at the Grand Prix of Hungary, securing the Freestyle category title. Mariani earned 79 points from the judges and finished 16 points ahead of runner-up Maximilian Martha. He outperformed Martha in variety, quantity, and style. Massimo Accumolo took third, with Paulo Nuñes and Wolfgang Strasser finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
UIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GT30, OSY400 & UIM EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP F125
Tallin, Estonia - Tallin hosted the prestigious UIM World Championship for GT30 and OSY400 categories, alongside the European Championship for F125. In the OSY400 World Championship, Poland’s Cezary Strumnik took first place, followed by compatriot Bartosz Rochowiak and Estonia’s Karol Soodla. The GT30 World Championship saw Norway’s Adrian Ostby triumph, with Estonia’s Rene Suuk and Lithuania’s Mantas Kukcinavicius rounding out the podium. In the F125 European Championship, Estonia’s Joonas Lember emerged victorious, with Poland’s Henryk Synoracky and Sweden’s Tobias Wahlsten finishing second and third, respectively
