The UIM mourns death of powerboating legend Renato Molinari

 

It is with great sadness that the International Powerboat Federation UIM mourns the passing of record World and European Championship titles holder Renato Molinari, at the age of 78.

 

Born in 1946 as son of a powerboat racer and boat builder, Angelo,  Renato Molinari grew up in a true powerboating environment and started his racing career at 18. Over the years, he collected 18 World Champion Titles, including the inaugural F1 Powerboat World Championship in 1981, followed by triumphant victories in 1983 and 1984, and he established 11 World records throughout his illustrious career.

 

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Powerboating Sport, Renato Molinari was bestowed with the prestigious Stefano Casiraghi Award by UIM President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli and Marco Casiraghi at the Salle Des Etoiles in Monaco during the UIM Awards Giving Gala in 2016.

 

For UIM President Raffaele Chiulli “Renato Molinari has marked Powerboat racing in the golden era of this sport, and he will stay in our minds and hearts as THE reference for a winning spirit.”

 

The UIM extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of this iconic Powerboating legend.
