Offshore XCAT wins in Italy for Swecat and HPI Fujairah

With three races on the schedule all counting for the overall standings, the Basilicata GP of the 2024 UIM Offshore XCAT World Championship represented an excellent opportunity for the ten participating teams to either strenghten their position or climb up in the ranking.

Leader of the overall before this third round of the season, Swecat Racing excelled once again on the rough waters of Marina di Pisticci with their recently modified 30-foot Victory catamaran. Throttleman Sebastian Groth and driver Erik Sundblad Johansen are leaving Italy with two race wins out of three.

Competing in their home country not that far from their Napoli headquarters and only team racing a Doug Wright hull, the HPI Fujairah team of Italian brothers Giuseppe and Rosario Schiano Di Cola took the win on Sunday’s Race three, to the delight of the local public attending the race.

In the Kilo Run of Saturday, new introduction to the XCAT event schedule, the Victory Team set the fastest time while 222 Offshore dominated the three Pole Position Runs of the event.
