UIM Mid-Terms in Amsterdam Shape the Season Ahead

Amsterdam, 11–13 April 2025 – The Members of the International Commissions of the UIM assembled in Amsterdam for their annual Mid-Term Meetings in Amsterdam, and the UIM COUNCIL chaired by President Raffaele Chiulli closed the sessions by delivering the rubber stamp on the latest adjustments to the 2025 season calendar and related regulations.

 

Throughout the three-day session, UIM COMINOFF, COMINTECH, COMINSPORT, and the Pleasure Navigation Commission put the final touch on the season preparations in the various powerboating disciplines, while the UIM Executive Committee discussed the practicalities for allowing a smooth organization of the 2025 UIM Class 1 Offshore World Championship in the United States. The UIM EXCO also approved the staging of the UIM General Assembly later in the year in Shanghai, from Sunday 5th to Sunday 12th October 2025, hosted by the Government of the Baoshan District, Tianrong Sports and the Chinese Powerboat Federation CSUPF.

 

One of the most significant outcomes of the meetings was the UIM Council’s decision to launch comprehensive safety studies for the Formula 4 class. As a result, crash safety boxes will become mandatory starting from the 2026 season, reinforcing herewith UIM’s continued commitment to pilots’ safety and technological innovation in powerboating.

 

The UIM Council also reviewed and approved the affiliation requests submitted by several entities, which had applied for UIM Membership. Corresponding UIM Membership was granted to the Macau MotoSurf Association (China Macau), to Club RSC Regau in representation of the Austrian Powerboating Community, and to the Croatian Powerboating Club who will be in charge of the organization of the UIM E1 GP of Dubrovnik later this year. UIM Council admitted the Vietnam Sport Powerboating Federation as new full UIM Member and confirmed the request of the Nepal Automobiles Association for an upgrade from Corresponding Member to Full Member.

 

The 2025 UIM Mid-Term Meetings once again provided a perfect platform for exchange and collaboration, strategic reflection, and the continued development of powerboating as a global sport. The UIM extends its appreciation to all participants and looks ahead to a safe and exciting racing season.
