The 2025 UIM F2 World Championship got underway this weekend in Brindisi, Italy, with tough weather conditions adding to the challenge for teams and drivers.

Saturday’s program was heavily disrupted due to strong winds and rough water, forcing organizers to cancel most sessions. Only free practice could be held safely. On Sunday, the action resumed with qualifying. Most drivers managed to complete their laps, but British driver Sam Whittle had to retire early after hitting a wave on the back straight, which triggered the airbag system on his boat.
The race took place in the afternoon with a rolling start, as the water conditions remained tricky. Drivers had 30 laps to complete on the challenging course. Sweden’s Hilmer Wiberg made a great start, moving up from fifth to join the front-runners. But it was Matthew Palfreyman from Great Britain who led from start to finish with a strong and steady performance. France’s Peter Morin, who started on pole, held on to second place, while Wiberg secured third.

There was late drama when Mansoor Al Mansoori flipped while attempting to pass Giacomo Sacchi for 12th place. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
