Big Wins in Mira as Championship Heats Up

The Grand Prix of Mira in Portugal delivered an action-packed weekend of racing, with standout performances and tight battles across all categories, hosted by FPM and Aquabike Promotion.

Mathys Mezière set the tone early on Sunday, locking in his win in Ski GP4 with a dominant ride in all three Motos. He finished well ahead of his closest rival and now holds a strong lead in the European standings.

In Runabout GP2, Manuel Reggiani kept cool under pressure to take the overall win, despite Alejandro Prats Palau stealing the show in Moto 3. Reggiani’s consistent top finishes gave him the edge, with Tom Claerhout finishing third overall.

Back on the water after missing the season opener, Benedicte Drange was unstoppable in Ski Ladies GP1. The Norwegian rider grabbed three straight Moto wins to seal the Grand Prix and left rivals like Estelle Poret and Jessica Chavanne chasing. "It was just amazing," said Drange. "I led the whole way — the ski was fantastic."

In Ski GP1, it was a tense family fight between Morgan and Mickael Poret, with Morgan edging out his brother in a tight final Moto. Denmark’s Oliver Koch Hansen stayed close but had to settle for third. “A win this weekend — I’m really happy,” Morgan said after clinching the overall victory.

Jéremy Perez knew what he needed in Runabout GP1 and played it smart. He held on for second in the final Moto, which was enough to take the Grand Prix. Perez now leads the championship with two rounds to go. “I saw Savelli miss a buoy, pushed a bit, and made my move,” he said. “I win the race here and I’m leading the European Championship.”

The weekend wrapped up with Freestyle, where defending champ Roberto Mariani showed why he’s the man to beat. With huge spins, flips, and back rolls, he impressed both fans and judges to claim another win — and more breathing room in the championship.

Next up: Hungary and France, where the championship battle heats up.
