The UIM F2 World Championship round in Klaipeda, Lithuania, delivered a thrilling day of competition, highlighted by outstanding performances from Sweden’s Wiberg siblings—Mathilda and Hilmer—who claimed first and third place, respectively.
The day began with early warm-up sessions and a tightly contested repechage race, where eight drivers fought for the final grid positions (P15–P20). Notable duels included Nikita Lijcs versus Rashed Al Qemzi for P15, and Peter Zak battling Sam Whittle for P19. Unfortunately, Tobias Munthe-Kaas and Egidijus Dagilis were unable to advance, finishing 21st and 22nd.

Weather played a disruptive role, with rain, lightning, and thunder forcing teams to adapt quickly. Fortunately, the storm cleared in time for the main race.
Mathilda Wiberg made a flawless start and took the lead from the first corner, setting a dominant pace that she maintained until the chequered flag. French driver Peter Morin kept the pressure on throughout the opening stages but ultimately had to settle for a solid second place. Meanwhile, Hilmer Wiberg delivered an impressive drive through the field—overtaking Edgaras Riabko on lap 7 and then Stefan Arand with ten laps to go—to secure the final spot on the podium.
The race was not without technical setbacks. Duarte Benavente suffered an electrical failure on Lap 1. Tino Lehto was forced to retire on Lap 9 due to power steering issues. Later in the race, Peter Zak was black-flagged after contact with Stefan Arand resulted in a damaged sponson and significant handling issues.
Despite the incidents, the Grand Prix concluded cleanly with 42 of 43 laps completed and critical points added to the championship standings. The Wiberg siblings’ performances were a highlight of the weekend—testament to both talent and determination in challenging conditions.
