The 2025 UIM Formula 2 World Championship reached a thrilling conclusion in Vila Velha de Ródão, Portugal, where five contenders entered the final weekend with a chance to take the crown. Only one would emerge as champion on Sunday afternoon—and history was made.
Saturday’s qualifying set the stage with high drama. After free practice in the morning, the time trials brought tense moments, none more dramatic than Giacomo Sacchi’s wind-induced flip in Q2, which ended his run despite being in the top six. Peter Morin (FRA) set the pace as the fastest qualifier, followed by Mathilda Wiberg (SWE) in P2 and Edgaras Riabko (LTU) in third. Championship leader Hilmer Wiberg (SWE) secured a place on the third row, starting from fifth.

The decisive race on Sunday delivered intense battles and heartbreaks. Early retirements for Peter Morin and Hilmer Wiberg opened the door for a historic result. In a landmark moment for powerboating, Mathilda Wiberg powered through to secure the World Championship title—the first woman ever to achieve this feat in UIM Formula 2.
She was joined on the final championship podium by her brother, Hilmer Wiberg, in second place, and Edgaras Riabko in third.

The 2025 season will be remembered not only for its spectacular racing but above all for this groundbreaking victory that has forever marked a new chapter in the history of the UIM Formula 2 World Championship.
