UIM and Kyrgyzstan Explore Hosting Major Powerboating Events

The Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) continues to expand its international presence as UIM President, Dr. Raffaele Chiulli was received today, March 14 by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in powerboating and the possibility of hosting international UIM competitions in Kyrgyzstan.

President Japarov highlighted the country’s growing role in international sport and tourism, noting the development of infrastructure in the Issyk-Kul Region, including the international airports of Karakol International Airport and Tamchy International Airport, as well as new luxury hotels under construction along Lake Issyk-Kul.

During the meeting, Raffaele Chiulli highlighted that UIM World Championship events represent the highest level of powerboating competition and outlined the possibility of hosting a round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship, alongside demonstration events such as Aquabike, MotoSurf and Hydro Fly.

Both leaders expressed confidence that hosting a round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship in Kyrgyzstan — for the first time in Central Asia — would further strengthen the racing calendar of the UIM by introducing a new destination in an emerging region for the sport and offering a unique natural venue for international competition, while also showcasing the tourism potential of Lake Issyk-Kul and promoting the country on the international stage.
