This year's UIM-ABP Aquabike European Championship opener in Mira was the most attended edition of the event to date, with over 130 riders registered to compete. Large crowds of spectators turned out over the weekend to watch the racing, with strong numbers again for the final day of competition. Several riders left Mira with a perfect points score after dominant weekends.
Runabout GP1: Jeremy Perez led every Moto, though Pierre-François Savelli stayed close behind him in Moto 2 and Moto 3, at one stage within just over a second. A penalty for a lane infringement in Moto 3 dropped Savelli to fifth in that race, which meant Samuel Johansson took second for the weekend on 64 points, with Savelli third on 58. Perez finished with the full 75 points.
Ski GP1: Quinten Bossche took the holeshot in all three Motos and pulled clear each time, with a best lap of 1:39.41. He ended the weekend with 75 points. Jeremy Poret and Valentin Dardillat finished level on 58 points after a close fight for the places behind him.
Ski Ladies GP1: Estelle Poret won all three Motos to finish the weekend with 75 points. Benedicte Drange, winner in Mira last year, took second overall on 57 points, ahead of Siiri Salonen on 56. Defending European Champion Jessica Chavanne finished fourth on 52 points; an earlier penalty in Moto 2 kept her off the podium despite a strong Moto 3.
Freestyle: Massimo Accumulo scored highest in Moto 2 with 163 points and takes the early championship lead. Roberto Mariani, last year's winner in Mira, again had to compete on a borrowed bike due to mechanical problems and scored 140, finishing third behind Steven Royer on 141.
Runabout GP2: Karl Keskula finished second in all three Motos, which was enough to win the weekend on 66 points, ahead of Manuel Reggiani on 65. Mattias Siimann won two of the three Motos but a penalty in Moto 1 left him third overall on 57.
Ski GP2: Robin Sylvester won all three Motos ahead of Daan Hoeke, who finished second overall on 66 points. Hoeke's brother Luuk Hoeke was third on 58.
Ski GP3 / Junior GP3.3: Milo Beernout won every Moto and takes the Junior GP3.3 title. Leo Kete's consistent results behind him were enough to win the Ski GP3 category, ahead of Manuel Leite and Michael Van Reybroeck.
Ski GP4 : Csongor Jászai won all three Motos, finishing the last one more than 30 seconds ahead of the field, for a total of 75 points. Daniils Potrivailo was second overall on 66 points after three runner-up finishes, with Maxime Arthebise third on 58. Francesco Mariani won the Junior category.
Runabout GP4: Jose Vainio was not challenged for the win all weekend and finished with the full 75 points. Arti Molter and Palau finished level on 60 points each, with matching results across the three Motos.
Runabout GP4 Junior: Vainio won all three Motos in this class as well. David Dvorak set the fastest lap of the race, 1:48.21, but could not get past Vainio. Adele Reiner-Latoseva finished second on 64 points; Dvorak dropped to third after failing to finish Moto 2.
Runabout GP4 Ladies: Alizée Vanden-Blecken once again took the holeshot and did not look back from there, leading Moto 3 from start to finish to make it a clean sweep in Mira, Michelle Dimov and Annemarie Oiemets took respectively second and third place on the podium.
