OBITUARY: RALF FRÖHLING
On 27th March 2019 ex UIM President, Ralf Fröhling, passed away at the age of 75. Ralf Fröhling, was an accomplished hydroplane driver and, after the end of his racing career, officiated as UIM
Commissioner.
He was elected UIM President in 1987 and led the International Powerboat Federation in this position until 2006, dividing his time between the sport´s top office and running a dynamic business
involved in the design and production of educational toys.
During his nearly 20 years as President, Ralf Fröhling initiated and oversaw the introduction of multiple international championship series for UIM Boat Classes. He never forgot though, that the
true foundations of the UIM reside in its National Authorities and the many national and international events held these Member Federations organized in their country in cooperation with member Clubs and local Organizers for a multitude of Boat classes.
The UIM honours the memory of its ex-President Ralf Fröhling and expresses its deepest sympathies to his family.
